Sending your first mailing using the Golf eMailer
Editor. The Golf eMailer Editor is a "What you see is what
you get" (WYSIWYG) editor so it is a lot like using a word
processor.
You must be using a Windows based computer
and Internet Explorer for the Golf eMailer Editor to work.
Why won't a MAC or Netscape Navigator work?
- When you signed up for your account, the system set up a
mailing list and first mailing edition for you. Click the
"Settings" button of your first mailing edition
which is located in the "Mailing List" box.
- On the "Settings for Mailing List" page you will
customize the way all mailings for the list will be formatted.
It is recommended that you follow the recommendations below
for your first mailing. You may choose to change them later.
Contact Information - Enter your company name, your e-mail
address and postal address. Those fields MUST be completed
to make sure you are conforming to the SPAM laws.
List Type - Make this list "Private."
Brief description of this list - You can rename this
list if the current name is not descriptive enough.
User-Accessible Fields - The default settings are
fine for your first mailing.
Unsubscribe/Profile Update - Any mailing you send
from this system of more than 100 e-mails will have an
unsubscribe option, so it is recommended that you just
choose the "Footer Only" option. The unsubscribe
requirement is to help protect you and your e-mail address
as being listed as a spammer.
Send-to-a-Friend - We recommend to start by choosing
the "Link" option and test the other options
later.
Salutation - Choose "No" to keep things
simple for your first mailing.
Tracking - Turn this feature on so you can see
exactly who is clicking the links in your mailing.
Character Set - Keep the default.
Default Font - We recommend that you make this
"Times New Roman" to keep things simple for all
your viewers. The font that your readers will see in the
mailing is based on the fonts installed on their computer,
so if you use a fancy font they may not see that font. Size
12 is a good size for readability for most people. Choosing
to have all your links underlined makes it so your viewers
will find your links easier.
Border around your email - Choose "None"
for this option, you can try other colors later.
We will not be using the other options, such as color, for
this mailing since we will be using a pre-designed template
for this mailing. Click the "Save Changes to Your
Template" button at the bottom of the page.
- Click the "Layout" option from the sub menu.
- Choose the
"Golf eMailer Editor."
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and "Import"
the template you want to use. After the template loads,
choose "Save" from the template editor.
- Fill out the "Email Subject Line" and then
create your content using the template editor.
Make sure to "Save" often while creating your
content.
Just below the editor is a drop-down box called
"Edition Width" where you can increase or decrease
the with of the editor.
- Before you send the mailing, you need to complete the
"Text-only Message" box on the "Edit
Edition" page. It is located at the bottom of the page
and is very important. This is the message that viewers that
can't receive your beautiful colorful message will receive.
Some people with older computers are not able to receive the
fancy e-mails. Our system makes sure that everyone receives
at least one of your messages, either the colorful or text
only.
- Once you are finished creating your mailing, click the
"Preview" option from the sub menu to review your
mailing.
- When you are satisfied with your mailing you are ready to
send it. Click the "Send" option from the sub menu
and follow the directions to send your mailing.
